Data & Rights
ISHOB republishes records only when their license explicitly permits commercial redistribution and adaptation. Publicly visible information is never treated as automatically reusable.
Accepted licenses
- CC0 1.0 and public domain
- CC BY (all versions)
- CC BY-SA (all versions) — reuse must remain CC BY-SA
Excluded
- Non-commercial licenses (CC BY-NC and variants)
- No-derivatives licenses (CC BY-ND and variants)
- Missing, unclear or publisher-specific terms, and all-rights-reserved works
- Retracted articles and text-mining-only author manuscripts
Attribution and provenance
Every record carries its license, license URL, copyright notice, a ready-to-use attribution string, its upstream source and identifiers, and a description of how it was processed. Anyone reusing ISHOB content must keep that attribution and comply with the record's license.
Upstream sources
Sources include Europe PMC, OpenAlex and PubMed Central. They are independent organizations and are not owned by ISHOB. PMC Article Datasets are used courtesy of the U.S. National Library of Medicine; records may not reflect the most current version available from NLM. ISHOB's contribution is normalization, deduplication, structuring, indexing and machine-readable delivery; rights in the underlying works remain with their holders.
Paid access
Discovery data (catalog, topics, search) is free. Some content endpoints require a machine payment per request. Payment covers delivery and processing; it does not change or restrict the license of the delivered work.
